One of the Best Story I have ever Read!!! (Shared)

A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside.

“Your son is here,” she said to the old man. She had to repeat the words several times before the patient’s eyes opened.

Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw the young uniformed Marine standing outside the oxygen tent. He reached out his hand. The Marine wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man’s limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.

The nurse brought a chair so that the Marine could sit beside the bed. All through the night the young Marine sat there in the poorly lighted ward, holding the old man’s hand and offering him words of love and strength. Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the Marine move away and rest awhile.

He refused. Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital – the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients.

Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night.

Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Marine released the now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse. While she did what she had to do, he waited.

Finally, she returned. She started to offer words of sympathy, but the Marine interrupted her.

“Who was that man?” he asked.

The nurse was startled, “He was your father,” she answered.

“No, he wasn’t,” the Marine replied.

“I never saw him before in my life.”

“Then why didn’t you say something when I took you to him?”

“I knew right away there had been a mistake, but I also knew he needed his son, and his son just wasn’t here. When I realized that he was too sick to tell whether or not I was his son, knowing how much he needed me, I stayed.”

Dr. Prakash Baba Amte – The Real Hero…

Generally, in movies, when we say we have a hero, it is because there is a Villain, a vicious villain who eventually gets defeated by someone who ultimately becomes HERO of the movie. Hero in a movie usually gets a gal, dances with her, and does some comic relief too. Footnote- Hero of movie is always, not always then most of the time expected to entertain us.

But “Dr. Prakash Baba Amte – The Real Hero” is a movie where this cliché will come to an end. This must be the most wonderful, heartwarming and eye opening movie I have ever seen.
I found a movie being the best media ever, to bring in focus the work Dr. Prakash Amte had done or been doing. I have had read about it, even heard stories about it also listened to the interviews (Very Few though) he had given. But they never were that effective as this movie is. That’s why we say Audio-Visual media is the best media ever.

The work of Dr. Prakash Amte is obviously inspiring but watching it on screen, step by step was marvelous experience. Amazing direction and screenplay by Adv. Samruddhi Porey. Her vision was quite simple- to bring life experience of Dr. Prakash Amte live on big screen. And she had done a terrific job doing so, hence a salute to her. Bringing a life’s journey live on screen is a difficult job. The work Dr. Prakash Amte has done or been doing is gigantic, yet she has managed to select the cream and had nicely did dressing of it on frame after frame.

There are two scenes which have quite impression on me still (Spoiler Alert, maybe ;) ). When Dr. Amte sees a small tribe’s boy freezing in cold and decides he has no right to be fully clothed when the boy has nothing to cover himself from cold and he literally stripes down to under wears. He still has been living on these clothing in his village and been dressing in simplest clothes possible outside the village. Second one when Baba Amte asked to take his grandchildren (Dr. Prakash Amte’s children) back to Anandvan for further education; Dr. Prakash Amte says he has 360 children (3 of his and rest of the tribes whom Dr. Prakash Amte has been trying to educate) and asked (Not directly) his father to take them all or none at all. Really Heartwarming.
DR Prakash Baba Amte Marathi Movie

All Nana Patekar’s fan must watch this one for sure; well even if you are not you still must watch this one. He and Sonali Kulkarni have completely given justice to the characters they were portraying. Dr. Prakash Amte himself is very poise and humble person. Seeing Nana being the same, for a change, was treat to eyes, as we have seen him mostly playing an aggressive ones. This one is definitely a remarkable performance of him. The way when we say Gabbar, Amajad Khan comes in our mind, similarly Iron Man -Robert Downey Jr., Batman- Christian Bale, Auro –Amitabh Bachchan, Dinkar Bhosale- Sachin Khedekar. The same way whenever anyone will say Dr. Prakash Baba Amte (in context of a Movie) Nana Patekar will come in our minds. He had given us yet another legendary character which will be remembered for many years from now to be the best character ever played by Nana Patekar.

After watching this movie I felt the life I have been living is worthless. I lived my life for me, what have I done for others? Nothing. But this man and his wife and the people who decided to join his venture, they are living entirely for the tribes’ people, for their improvement and needs. This is the way of living a real life. Living a life to make difference in someone else’s life is not at all an easy task, yet they are doing it religiously. Hence there couldn’t have been a better way to praise him as the sub-title does- “The Real Hero”.

We often fail to live our own life as we complain about things we don’t have, for our broken hearts, for our health problems, targets that we failed to achieve. Many of us do think to do something to give back to this world yet hardly very few actually end up doing so.  But after seeing the work these people are doing and witnessing their journey of starting this work till they reach where they are today, will make you realize how lucky you are for being whoever you are.

People who goes to watch a movie only for entertaining purposes then this movie is not a piece of cake for their plate. Better skip this one rather than coming out disappointed. But people who want to look towards their lives differently must watch this one. It will help you live your life with gratitude and make you feel to take up some task (May not a huge one as Dr. Prakash Amte’s venture) a little one maybe to try to live a life for use of others.

PS: The movie has English Sub-titles, hence not understanding Marathi should not be a barrier for not watching this Movie.
